Spanish police seize hashish destined for Britain
Spanish police have seized 600 kilogrammes (1,300 pounds) of hashish hidden among cases of red wine in a truck destined for Britain, and arrested the vehicle's Irish driver, they said Tuesday.
The haul was made in the Spanish town of Irun, near the French border, police said in a statement.
As a result of the discovery, police learned of other planned drug trafficking operations using road transport in Spain.
Spain is the main gateway into Europe for hashish from neighbouring Morocco, and the police regularly make large seizures.
