Spanish police arrested 10 suspects in an online child pornography crackdown, including a man accused of secretly taping his underage sister-in-law in the bathroom, the government said Tuesday.

Police raided 12 locations across Spain in the operation, also seizing 38 hard drives, nine laptops and 150 CDs and DVDs, the interior ministry said in a written statement.

"One of those arrested is a 31-year-old man in Alicante who, besides possessing and distributing pornographic material involving children, admitted taping on several occasions his 13-year-old sister-in-law in the bathroom of his home," it said.

"He hid a digital video camera behind the vent of the ventilation system in the bathroom and taped the minor without her ever being aware of it."

The authorities used a new software application developed in the United States called GnuWatch to identify computers that were sharing archives with "unequivocally paedophile content of extreme hardship", it said.

In addition to the arrests, another two people were under investigation for possession and distribution of pornographic material on the Internet, the ministry said in a statement.
