Spanish king to undergo lung surgery: palace
Spain's King Juan Carlos I is expected to undergo surgery at a hospital in Barcelona Saturday to remove a growth on his lung, the royal palace said.
The nodule on the monarch's right lung was detected on April 28 and doctors decided it was necessary to "extract and study" the growth, a palace statement said.
The king checked into the Barcelona hospital Saturday where "he will undergo a surgical procedure," the statement added.
He appeared in public Friday evening and seemed to be in "perfect" health, a palace spokeswoman told AFP.
