MADRID-The Spanish economy grew by 0.8 percent in the final quarter of 2004 from the previous quarter.
This brought the increase for the whole of last year to 2.7 percent from the 2003 figure, initial estimates from the National Statistics Institute (INE) said.
In 2003 the country's economy grew 2.5 percent.
The Bank of Spain had estimated that gross domestic product grew 2.7 percent in the fourth quarter of 2004 from the same period in 2003.
In a statement, INE, which is attached to the Economy Ministry, said it would publish final fourth quarter GDP data on 23 February.
