MADRID - Spain's economy grew 4 percent in the first quarter on a year-on-year basis, the National Statistics Institute, or INE, reported.

The preliminary gross domestic product, or GDP, figures point to stable growth for the Spanish economy, the INE said.

The solid GDP number was the product of strong export growth and consumer demand, following the trend from the previous quarter. EFE
