MADRID - Spanish second-quarter gross domestic product grew at an annual rate of 4 percent, slightly down on the first quarter, the National Statistics Institute said Tuesday.

The institute said second-quarter gross domestic product grew at a quarterly rate of 0.8 percent.

In the first quarter, Spanish GDP grew at an annual rate of 4.1 percent and at a quarterly rate of 1.1 percent.

The institute said second-quarter growth had slowed down on lower domestic demand.
