Brussels - Spain heads up the list of countries in terms of the consumption of cocaine and cannabis per person for the year 2005. So says a new EU report from the European Drugs and Drug Addict Observatory (OEDT), which also states that the consumption of cocaine in the EU rose 30 percent in that year.

The report also points out that cannabis has a tendency to become a daily habit among users, with a total of 23 million Europeans using the drug in the period of the survey.

Spain tops the list of users, with 11.2 percent of the population having smoked marijuana in 2005, while the users of cocaine stood at three percent of the Spanish population - that compares to 0.1 percent in Greece, for example. In all countries, cocaine use was distributed among a range of ages and social classes.
