Spain to freeze Kadhafi regime assets

Spain will freeze the assets of Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi's regime held in the country, a government spokesman said Wednesday.

"We will proceed with the embargo or freezing of Khadafi's assets in Spain," the spokesman said.

Foreign Minister Trinidad Jimenez confirmed the decision to Spanish journalists accompanying her and Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero on a visit to Tunisia, he said.

The Libyan regime's assets in Malaga include a large property in Malaga, southern Spain, held by the Libyan central bank.
