30 November 2004
MADRID- Spain's Socialist government is planning a major crackdown on tax fraud.
The Treasury Secretary Miguel Angel Fernandez Ordonez told a press conference in Madrid the government is to target those who do not declare their earnings or inheritances.
The plan, which has more than 300 points, aims to stop tax evasión through a series of new measures.
Organised investigations, spot-checks and using new sources of information will all help the government to crack down on tax cheats.
The government will make a special point of forcing tax frauds to pay back monies which they had tried to evade.
