BARCELONA — A shrimp peeler, a combination coat hanger-clothes dryer and an edible sweetening teaspoon are among the 125 devices from around the world being showcased at the 12th Galactica inventors fair.
The fair, which is being held in the town of Vilanova i la Geltru, near Barcelona, drew inventors from Uruguay, France, Morocco, Spain and other nations.
Most of the gadgets on display at the fair were designed to help people perform everyday chores more easily.
Uruguayan inventors demonstrated, among other things, "a human-traction transport vehicle" and a "soccer-coaching device."
Among the food products on display was an "edible sweetening spoon" that sweetens a liquid while it is being stirred and can be eaten once used.
Another gadget being demonstrated at the fair is a peeler for shrimp and other crustaceans that looks like a pair of scissors and allows the user to remove the meat without getting his fingers dirty, as well as making large-scale completion of this task easy.
One of the devices for home use is the Reciclagua, a system for recycling the water from washing machines and dishwashers.
One inventor created a device that warns cellphone users when they are leaving their phones behind.
