7 February 2005, MADRID-Severe weather warnings were issued in seven regions of Spain as heavy snow, gales and rain were forecast.

MADRID-Severe weather warnings were issued in seven regions of Spain as heavy snow, gales and rain were forecast.

Heavy snowfalls were expected in Castilla y León, Aragón, Catalonia, Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha.

Strong gales were also expected in the Canary Islands as well as heavy rain in Andalusia, especially in Almeria.

The bad weather would cause problems on main roads, forecasters warned.

The N-6 was still blocked by snowfalls in the mountainous areas of Segovia, particularly in the Los Leones area and in El Espinar.

The General Traffic Authority said secundary roads would also be affected in Burgos, Cantabria and in Soria in the north of Spain.

The National Meteorologícal Institute said there would be heavy snowfalls and sleet  in the Balearic Islands, Andalusía.

Snows were expected in higher areas in Valencia, Murcia and the Balearic Islands.
