PAMPLONA — One man was seriously ill in hospital on Monday after being gored by a bull at the San Fermin Running of the Bulls festival.

The 32-year-old Spaniard, named only as S.J.P.B, was said to be gravely ill.

Another Spaniard, a 21-year-old named as J.D.E., was also gored and suffered minor facial injuries after falling over in the path of the bulls.

Each morning the bulls charge up to 850m through the streets behind hundreds of 'runners'.

Seven people were injured on the first day of the week-long festival last Friday.

The most serious was Ray Ducharme, from New York, who has been paralysed from the neck down.

Doctors said he was still in the intensive care unit.
