Go hiking with the The American Society of Barcelona this Sunday, 27 June in the Montseny Natural Park!

We’ve planned another beautiful hike in the Montseny Natural Park! We’ll be meeting this coming Sunday, June 27, 2010 at 9:15 in front of the Sant Andreu Arenal train station (near the L1 metro stop Fabre i Puig). We’re heading out to Aiguafreda where our hike begins.

This 20k hike is longer than the last and requires a good bit of endurance for the climb, but the gorgeous views are well worth it!!! On our hike we’ll see fantastic views of the Cingles de Bertí & the Congost valley below, 16th century pous de glaç de Avencó, three 16th-17th century masias and the ruins of the Romanesque monastery Santa Maria high atop the Turó de Tagamanent. Also keep an eye out for: wild roses, lavender, thyme & blackberries all in bloom, wild strawberries beginning to fruit, pinion pines and the occasional wild onion & garlic.

This is a pay-as-you-go event so don't forget to bring cash. Train tickets are 8 euros round-trip. The ASB is collecting event fees of only 3 euros per person for non-members (and no event fee for members) to help defray the cost of scouting the trails and organizing the hike.

To sign up, and for the technical details, the day’s schedule and a full description of the hike go to

See you there!
