MADRID - Police searching for a British man missing in Ibiza are conducting DNA tests on a body found on the island.
Nigel Rees, 46, from Ammanford, Wales, disappeared a month ago, prompting an appeal for information.
Dyfed-Powys Police in the UK said they were liaising with the Spanish authorities and with Mr Rees's family, the BBC reported.
Police on the island said they had not yet been able to identify the body and reports in Spain said the circumstances were not being treated as suspicious.
Mr Rees made the news earlier this year when he was banned from driving shortly after selling his house to buy a mobile home to travel the world.
According to the Ultima Hora newspaper, Mr Rees disappeared in September in the Sant Antoni area.
It said a hiker found a body at Talaia and said sources in the investigation said there was no indication of violence.
Police on Ibiza have confirmed that they are carrying out tests on the body to establish its identity.
The Ibiza-based English language newspaper Ibiza Sun carried a photo of Mr Rees, issued by the British Consulate, along with an appeal for information following his disappearance.
Mr Rees made the news in April when he was banned by Ammanford Magistrates for drink-driving.
The court heard he had sold his house to buy a motor home so he could travel the world and days before he was due to leave he went out on the town with friends.
Mr Rees, whose address was given in court as The Camper Van, Ammanford, was stopped by officers the following day and he gave a positive breath-test.
