MADRID - (DPA) - Three and a half years after the March 2004 terrorist attacks in Madrid, the car of the alleged leader of the attacks has been located, authorities said Monday evening.

The car of Morrocan Jamal Ahmidan was discovered in a garage in Spain's North African enclave of Ceuta. The vehicle was allegedly used to transport some of the explosives used in attacks on four commuter trains that killed 191 people and injured 1,800 others.

The car was discovered by the lawyer of one of the men facing trial for the attacks, who then alerted police. It is to be tested for explosive residue.

Ahmidan and six others blew themselves up three weeks after the attacks as police surrounded a building where they were located. A verdict in the trial of other suspects is expected by the end of the month. dpa jv aw
