MADRID – Police arrested six ETA suspects in the early hours of Wednesday morning in the Basque country.

According to police sources, the operation was linked to information found in France after the arrest of one of the leaders of the Basque terrorist group, Ibón Fernández de Iradi, whose nickname is 'Susper'. It was aimed at dismantling ETA's infrastructure.

Police searched six properties at Vizcaya and Navarra, seizing computers and paperwork.

They arrested one woman and a man in Vizcaya, in Bilbao, two other suspects in Gernika and another in Galdakao.

A sixth, a 33-year-old man, was arrested in Mendigurria in Navarra.

The suspects, all in their 20s and 30s, were all taken to a police station in Madrid.
