MADRID – Police arrested eleven people across Spain for allegedly distributing a video showing a nine-year-old girl being abused.

The video was distributed across the Internet, said police.

The arrests on Friday were part of operation Tracer and involved raids on 13 homes in different cities.

Police seized computers and other equipment during the searches. Thousands of computer files containing pornographic images of children were found.

Among those who were arrested were a swimming club trainer, a prison official, a textile worker, an electrician, a jewellery worker and a student.

Among the pornographic material seized was a video lasting 1.15 minutes which shows a girl of nine being abused by an adult.

The raids were carried out in Algeciras, Illescas in Toledo, Burgos, Las Palmas, Málaga, Valencia, Tarragona, Santa Coloma de Farners in Girona and Barcelona, as well as the Catalan towns of  Olot, Manresa and Figueres.
