SPAIN - The share price of Pescanova, a leading manufacturer of frozen sea-food products in Spain, shot up on Monday after two deaths from mad cow disease were reported in the country.

The stock closed up 7.23 percent at EUR 35.00 after having reached an intraday high of EUR 36.49. That made it the biggest gainer on the exchange. Its share price is down 13.49 percent since the start of this year.

The Madrid general index was up 0.45 percent yesterday. The gain was posted after the Health Ministry reported that two people had died from mad cow disease in the region of Castilla y León.
