One woman drowns, another is saved in storms

SANTA CRUZ, TENERIFE — One woman has been drowned in heavy flooding in the Canary Islands.
But resecue services managed to save a 17-year-old girl from the water.
Neighbours saw both women struggling in the water.
Both women went under at the same time, but emergency services managed to save the teenager. She is recovering in hospital.
When they finally found the other woman, she was suffering from a heart attack.
Despite attempts to revive her, she died shortly afterwards.
The tragedy happened late on Tuesday afternoon when both women were seen struggling in the rising water in Tenerife.
The identity of the woman who died has not been released.
Heavy rainfall and gale force winds have been lashing the south-west of the islands for two days.
Forecasters predict the bad weather will ease before Christmas.
