ALICANTE – One of Spain’s most-wanted criminals has been finally caught in Alicante after 12 years on the run.
Francisco Javier Martinez San Millan, better known as Franky, has been on the run since 1994 when he was convicted to 14 years’ prison for drug trafficking.
He is believed to be behind the distribution of many tonnes of cocaine which pass from Colombia to Galicia.
Despite being on the list of the 10 most wanted fugitives in Spain, police sources believe Franky has still been continuing serious drug smuggling.
He is even believed to have changed his finger prints, a crime tactic which has never been seen before in Spain.
Police finally tracked him down to a luxurious house in Alicante on Wednesday and took him before judge Baltasar Garzon in Madrid.
Police said they would continue to investigate whether he is responsible for further crimes.
