MADRID — One in five Britons and a third of Germans are considering retiring to Spain, according to a new survey.
Property consultants King Sturge carried out the study, interviewing 800 Britons and 800 Germans over 50.
Twenty-two percent of Britons said they were considering moving to Spain, while 35 percent Germans said they had considered the same option.
Martin Zuchner, head of the King Sturge office in Madrid, said he believed there was a new-found optimism in Germany about retiring abroad.
Healthcare and social services facilities are all part of packages offered by many estate agents in Spain.
Zuchner said 44 percent of Britons and 34 percent of Germans said this would attract them to retire in Spain.
