Spanish rail workers set to strike in September
A workers’ strike from Spanish rail network Renfe employees is set for Friday 4 September, the first of four strikes set by its Spanish train workers’ union.
It will be the first of four scheduled 24-hour strikes, announced by Spain’s train workers’ union, SEMAF, in mid-August.
The other three strikes will take place on September 11, 14 and 15.
SEMAF is launching the strikes in the wake of failed talks on collective bargaining and human resources with Renfe.
A second national workers’ union, the CCOO, has also announced plans to strike in response to Renfe’s rejection of union demands to increase workforce numbers.
The disgruntled train workers plan to protest outside Spain’s Ministry of Public Works on September 12.
