7 June 2005, MADRID — The Spanish capital's famous Reina Sofia art museum will open its new wing designed by French architect Jean Nouvel in September.

MADRID — The Spanish capital's famous Reina Sofia art museum will open its new wing designed by French architect Jean Nouvel in September.

The full renovation of the museum, which is to cost EUR 30 million, will finally be finished in 2010.

Culture minister Carmen Calvo announced the Sabatini building will be finished in five years time.

Calvo also added that the name of the museum would change officially from the Reina Sofia National Centre of Art will now be known simply as the Reina Sofia Museum.
