BARCELONA (EFE) – Electricity company Endesa and train company Renfe said services in Barcelona had suffered temporary problems on Wednesday morning due to storms during the night but are now back to normal.

Homes and businesses in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Sant Cugat del Valles and Molins de Rei faced power cuts while train passengers had to face yet more delays to early morning trains on lines 2, 7 and 4.

The power cuts come after a massive blackout two weeks ago left more than 350,000 customers without power. Some buildings were left without electricity for three days.

Parts of Barcelona are still being powered by generators as Endesa and electricity network provider Red Electrica continue work to repair the network, which was damaged by a short-circuiting.

An investigation is under way to establish whether Endesa or Red Electrica is at fault for the blackout.

Residents and businesses in Barcelona have complained that interruptions in such basic services are not acceptable in a modern European economy.

Residents in some areas have also complained about the noise from the temporary generators.
