MADRID — A consumer's association claimed on Wednesday three mobile phone companies broke regulations over price hikes.

The Federation of Consumers in Action (Facua) said Vodafone, Movistar and Orange made an illegal pact to raise prices at the same time, breaking consumer regulations.

The group made a complaint to the government which can take action against the three companies.

Facua claim the price rises were made at the same time so as to avoid any great change in share prices between the three companies.

All three rose mobile phone calls by 25 percent making the average price of a call EUR 0.15 per minute.
