LOGRONO - Two teenage lovers have killed themselves in a suicide pact after going missing for two days, police said.
The 18-year-olds' bodies were found in a car early on Wednesday.
Police sources said their bodies showed no signs that they had been subjected to violence.
It appeared that they had died due to inhaling carbon monoxide gas from the exhaust pipe.
The teenagers were both from Autol, near Logrono, in north-west Spain.
Their families had called police late on Monday after the pair had gone missing and police launched a search.
The pair were found with a dog owned by one of them, which had also died in the car.
Police said they were seated in the driver and passenger's seat and looked "as if they had been sleeping".
Their shattered families refused to comment on the tragedy and it was not clear why they had chosen to take their own lives.
A full post-mortem was being carried out in Logrono. Their identities have not been revealed by police.
