VALLADOLID – The bodies of a young couple who went missing from their home in Cantabria have been found in a water reservoir in Palencia.
The local authorities in Castilla y Leon said divers brought up the couple from the water on Monday evening.
The 30-year-old man and 25-year-old woman, who had lived in Matamorosa, had been missing since 24 July and Guardia Civil divers, as well as diving associations, had helped search the reservoir for them.
Family members also attended the searches.
The hunt has been a slow process due to the limited visibility at the bottom of the reservoir and the low temperature of the water which meant that divers could only remain in the water for up to 25 minutes at a time.
The bodies were to be inspected by an investigating magistrate in Palencia and then transferred for an autopsy.
