MURCIA — The body of a man who was buried under tonnes of rubbish at a waste treatment plant was finally found after two days of searching.
The man was buried when a 50 metre high mountain of rubbish cascaded down on top of him on Monday.
The accident happened after a minor earthquake in Torrevieja, near Alicante and Suscina in Murcia dislodged the rubbish, bringing it down on the man.
The man, who worked at the plant at Albanilla, Murcia, was named as Jose Ramon H.L. He was a 40-year-old father of three who has worked at the plant for many years.
He was working nearby when the accident happened.
A team of 40 firefighters spent three days trying to clear the refuse in order to save the man
A police source said the search had had to be conducted with the "utmost care" in order to stop more rubbish falling on top of rescuers.
