2 September 2005, JAEN — A small military aircraft crashed into a three-storey residential building in the town of Baeza, in southern Spain, killing the pilot.

JAEN — A small military aircraft crashed into a three-storey residential building in the town of Baeza, in southern Spain, killing the pilot.

Authorities named the pilot as Jose Francisco Cabezas Torres.

There were no other injuries.

It was unclear what caused the crash which happened at just after 12.45pm and which caused a small blaze.

The plane crashed into the residential block in the centre of Baeza, near Jaen.

Rescue teams were still trying to recover the body of the pilot who was the only person in the plane when it crashed.

The building has been evacuated in case there is structural damage.
