MADRID - Bill Clinton met with Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero in Madrid yesterday, shortly after the former US president's meeting with King Juan Carlos.

During a two-hour visit to Moncloa palace, Clinton praised the Spanish government for its campaign against climate change and poverty.

For his part, Zapatero announced that the government would be increasing its donations to the Clinton Foundation, which works to "strengthen the capacity of people throughout the world to meet the challenges of global interdependence."

Clinton is in the capital for a Club of Madrid meeting, an association whose members are all ex-heads of state.
