BILBAO — A landslide left four vehicles partly trapped on a motorway in a mountainous area.
One person suffered minor injuries when rocks crashed on to the motorway at about 7.50am.
The cars were caught in the landslide on the A-8 road between Bilbao and San Sebastian, near the town of Deba.
Rocks fell from the mountain along a 40-metre stretch of road.
At its highest point, the rocks stood four metres high.
Two cars and two lorries were partially trapped by the landslide and firefighters were working to dig them out.
One person suffered from scratches from the falling rocks.
The two cars were "totally destroyed", according the fire brigade sources.
The road has been closed in both directions.
