3 December 2004, MADRID- Spanish airline Iberia said it has reached an agreement with labour unions to extend until 2007 a jobs reduction programme that was due to end this year.

MADRID- Spanish airline Iberia said it has reached an agreement with labour unions to extend until 2007 a jobs reduction programme that was due to end this year.

An Iberia spokeswoman said the company was offering early retirements for 2,000-2,500 ground crew over the age of 58 until 31 December 31, 2007.

The statement from Iberia confirmed earlier reports in the Spanish daily ABC.

The company, which employs 26,000 people after several waves of job cuts since 2001, is currently negotiating with flight crews about possible job cuts.
