MADRID — The price of the average home in Spain rose by less than 10 percent last year for the first time in five years, said the government.

The ministry of housing said in the past year, house prices went up by 9.7 percent.

Analysts believe this shows the market is slowing down.

In the past three months, prices went up 1.1 percent less than the previous quarter, when the year-on-year rise was 10.6 percent.
