BARCELONA - Woody Allen has started filming his new movie in Barcelona amid a row over who is financing the project.
Allen has chosen to start filming in the seaside area of Barceloneta ignoring the row over the film.
The opposition Popular Party (PP) group in Barcelona has demanded to know how much cash the city council is paying towards it and about all-expenses paid trips by council members to New York to meet Allen.
The city council said it has invested "less than 1 million euros".
But the PP group leader, Alberto Fernández, is to demand from the city mayor, Jordi Hereu, that he make public the figures involved.
He also said the throng of politicians at the launch of a celebrity-packed launch of the film made Barcelona look "provincial".
The Spanish goverment, the regional authority, public universities and businesses are all investing in the film.
