MADRID — The foreign ministers of Britain and Spain and Gibraltar's chief minister will meet to seal an historic deal over the colony's future, it was announced on Friday.

The meeting, set for 18 September in the southern city of Cordoba, will be the first time all three sides have come to a compromise over the Rock.

But the issue of sovereignty over the colony is not up for discussion.

Instead, it will deal with the use of Gibraltar's airport, British pension payments to Spanish retirees, improving telephone links between Spain and Gibraltar and easier access at the border with Spain.

Under the agreement, there will be flights from Spain and the rest of Europe to Gibraltar.
