MADRID-A man was killed and three others were injured in a shoot-out in Madrid, police said.
The 40-year-old Spaniard was killed and two young men and a girl were also shot in the incident on Sunday night.
Police named the dead man as Joaquin Carrasco Montoya, and said he had a long criminal history. He had one previous conviction for murder.
He was shot three times in the neck, stomach, and the pelvis.
Among the three people who were injured were two Spaniards and a foreigner, whose nationality has not been established.
They were all in a serious condition in hospital.
The shooting happened in the Vallecas area of Madrid near the M-30 motorway.
The incident happened just after 9pm when a car drew up near another car in which Montoya was sitting and fired a number of shots.
The three injured people have not been named, but the men are aged 19, 26 and the woman is 20. The gunmen shot each in the leg.
Emergency services were able to keep Montoya alive for 30 minutes after they arrived at the scene, but he died of heart failure.
