19 July 2005, MADRID — The Guardia Civil has broken up a gang involved in trafficking gunpowder, illegal fire arms and ammunition throughout Spain.

MADRID — The Guardia Civil has broken up a gang involved in trafficking gunpowder, illegal fire arms and ammunition throughout Spain.

Police seized 70 kilograms of gunpowder, 150,000 detonators, 20,000 cartridges, a number of illegal fire arms and silencers.

Fourteen people have been arrested in raids in Barcelona, Asturias, the Balearic Islands and Girona.

Raids at 12 addresses have been carried out.

The guns and ammunition were being smuggled into Spain through France and Andorra and were being sold to people who are involving in shooting.
