MADRID — A former security guard at the post office headquarters in Madrid shot two colleagues dead and seriously injured another before turning the gun on himself.

Manuel Ramírez Torrecilla fired shotgun blasts at three of his colleagues on Monday night.

One of them, who was hit seven times in the face, was killed instantly.

Another died later in hospital. The third person, a woman, is in hospital in a serious condition, after being shot six times in the stomach.

All those involved were employed by a security company which the Madrid city council had contracted for the renovations of the post office building.

The company said the man responsible for the shootings was only employed by them for a month and left voluntarily on 27 December.

But it was reported the killer out of revenge after his former colleagues had made his life at work a misery.
