A man’s winning of half a million euros over the weekend is the biggest slot machine payout in the country.

Madrid – A gambler pulled a EUR-505,000-jackpot out of a slot machine in southern Spain, a casino spokesman said Sunday.

The man, whose name was not released at his request, won after playing at the Aljarafe casino in Tomares near Seville for several hours in the early hours of Friday, the spokesman said.

It was the biggest slot machine payout ever in the country, and the man returned later that morning to resume gambling, the spokesman added.

A Los Angeles software engineer is believed to have won USD 38.7 million (EUR 27.2 million) – the largest slot machine jackpot ever paid out anywhere in the world – in March 2003 at a Las Vegas hotel after putting just three one dollar coins into a machine.
