SANTANDER-Four people died when a small plane collided with an ultra-light in northern Spain, authorities said.

The two aircraft were flying very close together and collided about 5:20 p.m. (1620 GMT), crashing close to a quarry near the town of Mataporquera.

Four boys from the town said they saw the two aircraft "touch," after which one spiralled to the ground and the other "fell like a rock."

A man and a woman were riding in each aircraft. None the dead have been identified by authorities.

It was also unclear from which airports the plane and the ultra-light had taken off.
