ESTEPONA - Devotion to football will become a way of life for some British fans who are being offered villas on the Costa del Sol sponsored by their favourite clubs.
'The Village' near Estepona contains 1,100 homes and sporting facilities
Fans and some players from Aston Villa, Bolton Wanders, Newcastle United, West Ham and Celtic can spend time on their own club-sponsored complex.
The development is expected to be finished by 2009.
The flats should be on sale for betwen GBP 146,000 and GBP 204,000 (EUR 210,000- EUR 300,000).
The luxury apartments will include plasma TVs, views of the sea, golf clubs, three football pitches, four tennis courts and a five-star hotel.
The Spanish daily El Mundo said on Monday: "What makes this specially linked to English football is the exploitation of merchandising which goes with it."
England football team keeper Paul Robinson is to run the football academy at 'The Village' where youngsters can be trained during the summer, said a spokesman.
Jeff Stelling, a Sky TV presenter has appeared on advertisements for the complex, explaining to fans the advantages of buying a place.
Already 60 flats have been sold, some to sporting personalities, including Michael Brown (capitain of Fulham FC), Blackburn player David Bentley and the ex-Leeds Ian Harte, who now plays for the club Levante Unión Deportiva in Spain.
Some clubs will use the complexes for their pre-seasoning training.
'The Village' is not the only housing development sponsored by a football club in Spain.
In Pueblo Real Golf, in the Costa del Sol, there is another 96-apartment development linked to Arsenal Football Club, which was launched in 2005.
