MADRID — Five Real Madrid players are among the top 10 best paid footballers in the world, according to a survey.
Leading the millionaire club is England and Real midfielder David Beckham who earns EUR 25 million a year.
Next is Ronaldo, the Brazilian striker, who earns EUR 19.6m, followed by Zidane, the French midfielder of los galaticos.
Two other Real Madrid players are among the list; the captain, Raul, who is said to earn EUR 9.3m, and Figo, the Portuguese international who is paid EUR 8.5m.
The figures come from a survey carried out for the magazine 'France Football'.
Among the other best paid players were Frank Lampard, the Chelsea striker who is on EUR 9.4m; his team mate John Terry, who is paid EUR 8.6m; and Thierry Henry, the Arsenal striker, who earns EUR 8.6m.
The figures include earnings from promotional work, which push up Beckham's earnings considerably.
Beckham is thought to make EUR 18.6m from promotional work, Ronaldo EUR 13m and Zidane EUR 6.4m.
The three are all paid the same wage from Real Madrid of EUR 200,000.
However, footballers earn a fraction of the money which golfing star Tiger Woods and Formula One champion Michael Schumacher are on. The German motor racing champion earns EUR 63.5m, while Woods is the highest earner on EUR 66m.
