Madrid - Endesa, Spain's largest electricity supplier said Friday its net profit in the nine months to September fell 21 percent to 1.979 billion in the absence of the major one-off gains it posted the previous year.

Endesa booked one-off gains of €795 million in the same period a year earlier from the sale of assets and other extraordinary income. On a like-for-like basis the utility's earnings were up 13 percent.

Endesa was recently acquired by Italian power company Enel and local conglomerate Acciona through a joint takeover.
