17 September 2004, STRASBOURG - An earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale hit a region in Spain's Basque country, close to the border with France, it was reported Friday.

STRASBOURG - An earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale hit a region in Spain's Basque country, close to the border with France,  it was reported Friday.

There were no casualties.

The Strasbourg seismological laboratory said quake occurred at 9:17 pm (1917 GMT) on Thursday.

The epicentre was at latitude of 42.92 degrees north and a longitude of 1.45 degrees west, the laboratory said.

That located it to the east of the main Spanish Basque city of San Sebastian.
