MURCIA - Ninety people, including a number of children, slept in council-provided accommodation after a series of minor earthquakes in the Murica area.

Sources from the Spanish Geographical Institute said there were a number of minor earthquakes, the most serious registering 4.7 on the Richter scale.

The tremors started last Saturday, and experts said it was normal that tremors should continue for at least a week and for up to a month.

However, 90 people have decided to leave their homes for fear of any further  earthquakes.

The earth tremors centred on the town of Lorca, in the Murcia region.

They have been housed by the Lorca Council in temporary accommodation.

On Friday morning 25 minor tremors happened in the Lorca area, the most serious measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale.

There were no injuries or damage.
