MADRID - Two suspected ETA terrorists were extradicated from France to Spain on Friday where they will stand trial for offences allegedly committed in France.
In the first case of its kind, Garikoitz Etxeberria and Asier Larrinaga were taken from a prison in Toulouse to Madrid where they will stand trial at a later date.
France has applied a legal order which means the pair will be judged in Spain for crimes allegedly committed in France.
The move came after the Spanish supreme court rejected an appeal by both accused.which was brought in France.
Etxeberria and Larrinaga were arrested under a European arrest warrant on 9 January in Ascain, in the French Basque Country.
They are accused of trafficking explosives, falsification of documents and 'belonging to a terrorist organisation ETA'.
Spanish police believe Exteberria and Larrinaga are linked to two arms caches discovered in Amorebieta and Atxondo in the Basque Country last year.
