MADRID-Spanish police on Tuesday arrested a 42-year-old man suspected of belonging to armed separatist group ETA, interior ministry sources said.

The man, arrested near Irun on the French border, is believed to have been involved in the construction of arms caches uncovered in a police raid on 3 October which preceded the arrest of ETA leaders Mikel Albizu, nicknamed 'Antza', and Soledad Iparaguirre, nicknamed 'Anboto'.

Interior Ministry sources said the arrest followed a police stakeout along the border with France.

The sources added the suspect, described as being based in France, was being taken to a police station in Madrid for questioning.
