Domínguez takes gold in European cross country

10 December 2007, MADRID - Spain's Marta Domínguez took the European women's cross country championship on Sunday as a roaring home crowd in Toro, Zamora, cheered her on as she stepped up the pace during the final meters to take the lead from France's Julie Coulaud and her compatriot Rosa Morato.

MADRID - Spain's Marta Domínguez took the European women's cross country championship on Sunday as a roaring home crowd in Toro, Zamora, cheered her on as she stepped up the pace during the  final  meters to take the lead from France's Julie Coulaud and her compatriot Rosa Morato.

The 32-year-old Domínguez, who won European 5,000-meter gold in 2006, was just three seconds clear in the 8.2-kilometer race. Spain's women and men's teams also won gold.
