Disabled Briton trapped in flat with wife's body
The man was found unconscious on the floor next to a wheelchair when staff entered a flat in a Spanish holiday resort.
Benalmadena – A disabled British man spent at least a week trapped in a flat in a Spanish holiday resort with the decomposing body of his wife, unable to call for help, a Spanish newspaper said Thursday.
Staff at the complex in Benalmadena, southern Spain, entered the flat after neighbours complained about the stench. They found the 82-year-old man unconscious on the floor next to a wheelchair, the regional Diario Sur newspaper said.
His leg was trapped under a television set that had apparently fallen over after he had tried to call for help, according to a police reconstruction of events, the paper said.
The body of his 58-year-old wife was sitting in a chair, in an advanced state of decomposition.
Police believe the man, who was taken to hospital, may have been trapped in the flat with his wife's body for at least a week, the paper said.
