HUELVA — A deputy mayor from the conservative Popular Party who posed naked for a beauty contest led to rare show of political unity.
Maria Dolores Jimenez, a councillor in Lupe, Huelva, south west Spain, said she agreed to the pictures "to provoke".
The pictures, published in the local cultural magazine Lepe Urbana, were appreciated by the local mayor who said Jimenez was a "very beautiful woman"
The Popular Party mayor Manuel Andres Gonzalez said the photoshoot was a "strictly personal" affair which had nothing to do with Jimenez's political career.
Jimenez, 35, an engineer, told the magazine her favourite part of her body was her mouth, though "people always look at my eyes".
Jimenez added: "One day I think I will run out of the door and not stop like Forest Gump."
Opposition parties supported her decision to pose with no clothes on.
María Bella Martín, of the socialists, said the pictures were tasteful.
